The jury in the trial of 34-year-old Vincent Martin Crowe has failed to reach a verdict.
Crowe, who is from Ireland, stood trial for the murder of Wexford man Kenyon Meyler, also known as Kenny, in Perth, Australia.
The court heard that he stabbed Meyler in the neck as the victim sat at a table at a residence in Scarborough, Perth.
Crowe’s defence barrister told the court that her client was filled with remorse and that he “didn’t remember anything.” The court also heard that the defendant had been taking the drug mephedrone in the lead-up to the attack.
The jury, which had been deliberating since yesterday afternoon, told Justice Lindy Jenkins today that it could not reach a verdict.
A status conference on 13 November will discuss the possibility of a retrial.
