Attempted armed robbery at Barrack Street post office.

An attempted armed robbery took place at the Barrack Street post office in Wexford Town this morning.

At 10am this morning, a masked man entered the post office with a long barrelled weapon. Although the man in question made off with a bag, it has been reported that nothing of value was taken.

Earlier today, a spokesperson for An Post confirmed that a “security incident” had taken place at the premises and that the An Garda Síochána were investigating.

The man was wearing a dark blue hoodie and he was roughly 5 foot 3 in height. In the lead-up to the robbery, the man in question was seen hanging around outside of the post office.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Wexford Garda station on (053) 916 5200.
