Wexford County Council launch Vacant Property Incentive Scheme

Today, the Wexford County Council announced its new Vacant Property Scheme. The scheme, which is aimed at encouraging the use of vacant commercial property, will offer grants as a contribution towards office fit-out costs.

According to the guidelines that have been set out, the scheme will be placing an emphasis on office space, shops, art studios and artisan food shops.

To avail of the scheme, proposed office spaces must have a minimum floor area of 2500 sq. ft. They must also exist inside the designated commercial/mixed zones of the town, as designated by the Wexford Town and Environs Development Plan (2009).

During the consideration of a grant, the following factors will also be taken into account:

  • The similarity of surrounding offices.
  • The size and scale of the proposed business unit.
  • The quality of the design / image.
  • The physical impact of the proposed unit on the internal structure of the building that it will be housed in.
