Wexford County Council has become the first local authority in Ireland to provide “beach wheelchairs”.

The wheelchairs, which allow those with disabilities to traverse sandy terrains, are currently available to holidaymakers at the “Surf Shack” at Curracloe Beach.

While speaking on Facebook, Labour Cllr George Lawlor said that a beach wheelchair will also be introduced to Rosslare in the coming weeks.

If the pilot program is deemed to be a success, the wheelchairs will also be made available to other Blue Flag beaches in the county.

To book or get further information about the beach wheelchairs at Curracloe, you can call Alice on 087-751 9194.
