Widespread anger as James “Japa” Murphy is removed as Wexford Albion chairman.

There was widespread anger amongst the local soccer community last night after news filtered through that James “Japa” Murphy had been voted out as chairman of Wexford Albion football club.

A harshly-worded online petition has been set up in response to his removal, with the description stating:

Japa Murphy bleeds purple and gold for Wexford Albion and has been shafted from his position by a crowd of snakes.

This anger has been echoed by users on social media websites such as Facebook, with one AGM attendee stating that members of the club had ‘run the man into the ground’ and that he had been defeated by one vote. Another user wrote: ‘The man should be treated with some respect for all the work he has put into that club! Absolute disgrace!’

As the news continued to spread, more and more people began to express their anger at the decision:

F*****g disgrace if that’s true! How can people forget what that man and Jack Carthy did for the schoolboys in Wexford town. I hope nobody joins their men’s team now. Sad stuff!

The online petition, which was started this morning, has gained over 150+ signatures in little under an hour.
