What is Clean Break?

RTÉ has announced that its new four-part drama series “Clean Break,” written by Wexford playwright Billy Roche and set in Wexford Town, will begin airing at 9.30pm on RTÉ One on Sunday 27 September 2015.

Who produced it?

Octagon Films and 152 Productions produced the series. The company also produced RTÉ’s crime drama Love/Hate.

Scottish film director Gillies MacKinnon directed episodes one and four, while Irish director Damien O’Donnell directed episodes two and three. Production began in November 2014.

Synopsis

The main character, Frank Mallon, is a car dealer who falls into severe financial difficulties. He decides to carry out the “tiger kidnapping” of a local bank manager’s family, but the kidnapping does not go to plan. The story is based on how the kidnapping affects the local community.

Cast

Irish actor Adam Fergus plays the main character Frank Mallon. Aidan McArdle plays bank manager Desmond Rane, Simone Kirby plays his wife Annette Rane, Amybeth McNulty plays their daughter Jenny Rane, and Marie Mullen plays Old Mrs Rane.

Kelly Thornton plays Corrina Mallon, Damien Molony plays Danny Dempsey, and Ned Dennehy plays Noel Blake. Wexford actor Dermot Murphy plays Snowy White. Phelim Drew plays Tom Burke, and Sean McGinley plays Ben.
