  • The series was written by Wexford playwright Billy Roche.
  • It was produced by Octagon Films and 152 Productions.
  • Octagon Films are the same production company that produced RTE’s crime drama Love/Hate.
  • Scottish film director Gillies MacKinnon directed episode one and episode four.
  • Irish director Damien O’Donnell directed episode two and episode three.
  • Production of the series began back in November of 2014.

What’s it about?

  • Clean Break is a four-part drama series that is set in Wexford Town.
  • The main character in the series is a car dealer called Frank Mallon.
  • When Mallon falls into severe financial difficulties, he decides to carry out the “tiger kidnapping” of a local bank manager’s family. Unfortunately for Mallon, the kidnapping doesn’t go to plan.
  • The story is based on how the kidnapping affects the local community.
