Wexford’s Metropolis nightclub closes

The Metropolis nightclub in Wexford Town closed its doors yesterday after more than four years in business.

The popular nightspot on Wexford’s North Main Street announced the closure on its Facebook page.

“It is with great regret that we must inform you, that as of 4:00pm on Friday April 24th 2015, Metropolis Nightclub has closed its doors, and will remain closed permanently.”

The management team thanked its staff members and customers, past and present.

The premises at Whites of Wexford previously housed nightclubs such as The Colony and The Music Factory. Both were also forced to close, despite attracting celebrities such as footballer Kevin Doyle and glamour model Abi Titmuss.

Yesterday’s announcement follows the recent closure of another popular nightspot, Chocolate, which stopped trading several weeks ago.
