A new competition called “Wexford Has Talent” will begin in January next year.
The judges will include:
- Wexford Mayor George Lawlor.
- Hurling legend Tom Dempsey.
- Irish boxing coach Billy Walsh.
- South East Radio presenter Alan Corcoran.
- Award-winning singer/actor Tony Carty.
- Former Wexford/Kilkenny hurler David “Stoney” Burke.
Auditions for the show will take place at Whites of Wexford between Saturday 10 January and Sunday 11 January. During those auditions, the judges will select a shortlist of 24 to 30 acts to perform at live semi-final events.
Across the two semi-final events, audiences will select 12 contestants to advance to the final, where they will compete for a cash prize of €2,000.
Carty said, “I am delighted to be part of this fantastic event. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the great range of talented people we have here in Wexford. We know the competition is going to be tough but all of the judges agree that it is certainly going to be very entertaining.”
The final will take place on Saturday 14 February. Tickets will go on sale at the end of this month.
