County Wexford offers a wide range of activities for children and young teenagers. This is a list of things for families to do and places that you might want to visit.
Wells House & Gardens.
Wells House is a large Victorian house that situated on the road between Wexford Town and Ballycanew. The expansive gardens around the house offer a number of sights and activities, from woodland walks to 3D Archery. The gardens also contain an “Animal Farm” and a children’s playground. Those taking part in the woodland walk will come across small fairy doors on trees, as well as wooden sculptures of various animals and mythical creatures. The small animal farm contains a donkey, hares, ducks and much more!
Playzone.
Playzone is an indoor playground that is situated in the Wexford Road Business Park in Wexford Town. The play area is roughly 10,000 square foot and it is comprised multiple slides, an infant play area and other various amenities. Adults can relax and sit at the cafe, where they can order drinks and food such as grilled sandwiches, chips, scampi, sausages and chicken nuggets. Playzone also has a regular shop, as well as WiFi for visitors.
Redmond Park.
Redmond Park is situated on Spawell Road in Wexford Town. The park contains an outdoor playground, picnic benches and open grassy areas for kids to play on.

Ferrybank Playground.
The playground at Ferrybank is a small outdoor playground that adjoins the existing camp site. It contains swings, a slide and a see-saw.
Kia Ora Mini Farm.
The Kia Ora Mini Farm is situated close to Gorey and Courtown. The farm contains a number of different attractions and things for children to do:
- Go Cart tracks.
- An open farm that contains bulls, llamas, alpacas and emus.
- A pig sty and bird pens.
- A pond that contains swans.
- Bird pens.
- An outdoor maze and a sand pit.
- A play area for children under four years of age.
- A football pitch and basketball hoop.
The farm also contains a coffee shop and picnic area.
Pirates Cove.
Pirates Cove is located close to Courtown in County Wexford. This local attraction caters to a number of different events and activities, such as Adventure Golf, a games arcade, a miniature train ride, ten pin bowling, kids karting, an aqua zone and a soft play area for young children.
Swimming Pool.
There are a number of swimming pools throughout the county:
- The Wexford Swimming pool in Ferrybank, Wexford.
- The Enniscorthy Waterfront Swimming Pool in Templeshannon, Enniscorthy.
- The Apex in Bosheen, New Ross.
- The Coral Leisure Centre in Courtown.
Wexford Wildfowl Reserve.
The Wexford Wildfowl Reserve in Ardcavan, Wexford is home to various bird species, such as ducks, swans and geese (mostly during the colder months). It also contains educational displays about birds and dinosaurs. The visitor centre is open between 9AM and 5PM. Typically, the receptionist desk inside the visitor centre will have small containers of food that visitors can feed the ducks with.
Beaches.
County Wexford has a number of fine-sand beaches; many of which have been given Blue Flag status. Some of the most popular beaches include:
- Curracloe.
- Rosslare Strand.
- Courtown Beach.
- Morriscastle Beach.

Ross Adventure Play Barn.
In the Woodbine Business Park in New Ross, you’ll find the Ross Adventure Play Barn, which caters for children between the ages of 0 and 10. The Play Barn has a number of different activities for kids; such as a bouncy castle, crawl tubes and a ball pond.
Leisure Max.
Leisure Max is situated in Sinnottstown area of Drinagh in Wexford Town. One of the main draws of Leisure Max is that it contains a bowling alley, a play centre and an indoor soccer pitch. It is also located just a stone’s throw away from popular fast-food restaurant McDonald’s.
Wexford Omniplex Cinema.
In Drinagh in Wexford Town, you’ll also find the Wexford Omniplex, which is a modern cinema that contains stadium-style seating and eight different screens.
Karting & Wakeboarding.
R-One Karting is situated in the Strandfield Business Park on the Rosslare Road in Wexford. There, you’ll find a 23,000 square foot indoor go-cart track. The same company also offers Wakeboarding, Waterskiing and Kneeboarding.
