A man aged 54 has been hospitalised after a firearm was discharged at a residence in the Coolcotts area of Wexford Town on Saturday night.
The incident occurred on Shannagh Court, a small street connecting Coolcotts Lane and Ferndale Park.
Gardaí said multiple shots were fired through the front window of the house at approximately 11:30 pm on 16 May 2026. Bullet holes were visible in the window of the downstairs front room.
Five people were inside the property at the time of the shooting. The injured man sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was taken to Wexford General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It is believed that the gunman may have fled the scene on an e-scooter.

An incident room has been established at Wexford Garda Station and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. The scene has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in Coolcotts and the adjoining area between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm on Saturday. They are also seeking camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the area at the time of the incident.
