James Browne is a Fianna Fáil politician from Enniscorthy in County Wexford. He has served as a TD in Dáil Éireann since 2016. He was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Justice with responsibility for law reform on 2 September 2020, and was appointed Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage on 23 January 2025.

He is the son of John Browne, who was a Fianna Fáil TD for County Wexford between 1982 and 2016.

Browne began his political career in 2009, when he contested the Town Council elections. He topped the poll and became the youngest member of Enniscorthy Town Council, where he served as Vice Chairperson.

The Local Government Reform Act 2014 abolished town councils such as Enniscorthy Town Council. Browne then sought a seat on Wexford County Council. In May 2014, he ran as a Fianna Fáil candidate in the Enniscorthy electoral area and was elected to the council after securing the highest number of first preference votes with 1,969 (14.78%).

In February 2016, following the retirement of his father, Browne contested the general election. He received 9,827 (13.7%) first preference votes and was elected to Dáil Éireann after the 10th count.

He was re-elected in the 2020 and 2024 general elections, securing 8,058 (10.73%) and 8,596 (16.37%) first preference votes respectively, both on the 11th count.
