In May 1999, YouTube user 9teen48 photographed Wexford Town centre. The images show how much the town has changed over the decades since.
Selskar Street in Wexford Town. To the right, Finnegan’s Newsagency stood on the corner of Skeffington Street. On the left, The Selskar Lounge Bar occupied the building that now houses The Selskar Pharmacy.North Main Street during the years when The Tower Bar and The Sweater Shop were still open.North Main Street when Kelly’s Bakery sat across the road from Hassett’s Pharmacy.The ESB shop stood on Common Quay Street, across from the Bank of Ireland.Monck Street in the 1990s. O’Faolain’s stood on the right, with the corner of The Yacht on the left. The old Whites Hotel building was visible in the distance.Tim’s Tavern occupied a spot on Wexford’s South Main Street, on the corner with Cinema Lane. In more recent times, South 51 occupied the premises. It later became Costa Coffee, which closed on 4 January 2026.
