Met Éireann have issued a Status Orange weather warning for counties Wexford, Dublin, Louth, Wicklow, Meath, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Cork, Kerry, and Waterford.
Between 6 p.m. on Sunday, 5 October (today) and Monday, 6 October (tomorrow), south-easterly winds are expected to reach an average speed of about 50 to 70 km/h.
The national meteorological service has also warned that gusts of wind may reach up to 120 km/h.
Orange weather warnings are typically issued when weather is likely to have a significant impact on people.
Coastal areas such as Wexford Town, Kilmore, Courtown, Curracloe, Fethard, Bannow, and Rosslare will be among the worst affected.
Between 20 mm and 40 mm of rain is also expected to fall.
