Whites for Music in Wexford has been forced to close its doors after thirty years of trading. The popular music store, which was situated on Wexford’s South Main Street, was well-known throughout the town for selling concert tickets, CDs, MP3 players and other electrical goods.
Due to the rise in popularity of free Internet downloads and digital distribution services such as iTunes and Amazon, many music stores have found it increasingly difficult to compete, as physical sales of CDs and DVDs continue to slump.
A handwritten note, which was placed in the window of the store, said that Whites for Music had ceased trading and that it would not be re-opening.
As of yet, it is still unknown who will take over the sale of Ticketmaster tickets in the town.
