The swimming bans that were applied to four Wexford beaches have been lifted.
A ban had been applied to beaches in Curracloe, Morriscastle, Cullenstown and Oldbawn after “unacceptable levels” of E. coli. were discovered in a number of test samples that were taken on Thursday, the 3rd of July.
The restrictions were put in place because E. coli. is a bacteria that can cause vomiting, fever, diarrhea and severe stomach cramps.
In response to the disconcerting results, further samples were taken, all of which came back clear.
As of today, all of the beaches in question have had their blue flag status restored.
