According to statistics released by the Department of Education, 26% of primary schools in County Wexford have an average class size of 30+ students.
The annual statistics for 2013/2014, which were released today, show that County Wexford has an average of 25.5 pupils per class, which is slightly above the national average.
During the 2013/2014 school year, 18,419 Wexford students were divided up into 760 classrooms.
A drilldown of the statistics:
- 708 mainstream classes held 18,048 pupils.
- 22 mainstream classes held 138 pupils with special needs.
- 30 special schools held 233 pupils.
- Wexford had 12,051 second level students.
