Footage of a car dangerously overtaking a Wexford cyclist has circulated on Facebook and Twitter. The video, uploaded by YouTube user Wexfordphil 1, shows a red car overtaking the cyclist at high speed with little regard for the space between them. The footage was highlighted by Noel Gibbons, a road safety officer with Mayo County Council.
Gibbons has called for a law requiring motorists to give cyclists a minimum passing distance of 1.5 metres.
