Weather forecasters are warning that severe thunderstorms will hit the South East of Ireland from midnight onwards.
Irish Weather Online reported an 80 per cent chance of intense lightning, torrential downpours, and possible hail in the region.
Forecasters also warned of possible flash flooding in urban areas, stating the region could receive up to 50mm of rain.
This morning, Dr Klara Finkele from Met Éireann stated that a tropical air mass over northern Spain could reach the south coast of Ireland, causing intense bursts of rainfall.
Forecasters advise people to bring in loose garden furniture due to expected strong gusts of wind.
