Vincent Martin Crowe has been found guilty of the murder of Wexford man Kenyon Meyler.

The Irishman fatally stabbed 21-year-old Kenyon ‘Kenny’ Meyler during a house party in Perth, Australia; back in February of 2013.

Although Crowe admitted to the lesser offence of “unlawful killing”, the jury decided to convict him of murder.

The prosecution will be seeking life in prison for the 34-year-old Irishman.

This is the second time that Vincent Martin Crowe has stood trial for the murder of Kenyon Meyler. In October of last year, a jury failed to reach a verdict on the case.

The jury in the trial of Vincent Martin Crowe (34) has failed to reach a verdict.

Crowe, who is from Ireland, had been standing trial for the murder of Wexford man Kenyon (Kenny) Meyler, in Perth, Australia.

The court heard that Crowe had stabbed Meyler in the neck as he sat at a table at a residence in Scarborough, Perth.

Crowe’s defense barrister told the court that her client was filled with remorse and that he “didn’t remember anything”.

The court heard that the defendant had been taking the drug mephedrone in the lead up to the attack.

Today, the jury, which has been deliberating since yesterday afternoon, told Justice Lindy Jenkins that it had failed to reach a verdict.

On the 13th of November, the possibility of a retrial will be discussed at a status conference.

The man accused of murdering Wexford man Kenyon (Kenny) Meyler has claimed that he ‘doesn’t remember anything’.

Irishman Vincent Martin Crowe (33), who stands accused of the murder, is believed to have been taking mephedrone and ecstasy in the lead up to the attack.

According to the prosecution, Crowe and his friends had been drinking and taking ecstasy the night before. At 4AM, they returned from a nightclub to the residence in Scarborough, Perth.

After arriving back at Scarborough, it is reported that Crowe took a drug called mephedrone, which is also known as “meow meow” or “M-CAT”.

At 1PM, a verbal altercation occurred between Meyler and one of Crowe’s friends. The argument was brought to an end when one of the hosts at the house in Scarborough intervened and managed to ‘talk them down’. Afterwards, the two men shook hands and ‘everyone went back to normal’.

Approximately one hour after the argument had ended, Vincent Martin Crowe entered the kitchen area and grabbed a knife. He then walked up to Meyler and stabbed him in the neck as he sat at the dining room table.

Crowe’s defence lawyer, Judith Fordham, told the court that her client doesn’t remember anything from the attack. “From the very beginning when he found out, he’s been filled with remorse for what he has done.” Fordham also asked the court to acquit her client of murder and find him guilty of manslaughter instead.

The trial will continue today.

Vincent Martin Crowe (33) is due to stand trial for the murder of Wexford man Kenny Meyler after prosecutors in Perth rejected his plea of manslaughter.

Today, in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the jury was told that Crowe had pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter.

This plea was rejected, however, as prosecutors intend on proceeding with a murder charge.

In February, 2013, Kenyon (Kenny) Meyler was left in a critical condition after he was stabbed in the neck at a residence on Helmsley Street, Scarborough, in the Australian capital of Perth.

Six days later, Meyler passed away. Afterwards, Crowe’s initial charge of “intent to do grievous bodily harm” was upgraded to murder.

Opening submissions for the trial will begin tomorrow.
