The jury in the trial of Vincent Martin Crowe (34) has failed to reach a verdict.
Crowe, who is from Ireland, had been standing trial for the murder of Wexford man Kenyon (Kenny) Meyler, in Perth, Australia.
The court heard that Crowe had stabbed Meyler in the neck as he sat at a table at a residence in Scarborough, Perth.
Crowe’s defense barrister told the court that her client was filled with remorse and that he “didn’t remember anything”.
The court heard that the defendant had been taking the drug mephedrone in the lead up to the attack.
Today, the jury, which has been deliberating since yesterday afternoon, told Justice Lindy Jenkins that it had failed to reach a verdict.
On the 13th of November, the possibility of a retrial will be discussed at a status conference.
