A woman has been hospitalised after being threatened and assaulted by a man impersonating a garda at a roadside robbery in Murrintown, County Wexford.
The woman was driving to work at around 6.30am this morning when she was pulled over by a dark Ford Mondeo that was equipped with a blue flashing light.
When the woman stopped at the Corramacorra Junction in Murrintown, a man impersonating a member of the An Garda Síochána assaulted her before stealing a sum of money.
Her attacker then left the scene in the dark-coloured Ford Mondeo, which was being driven by a second man. The car in question is believed to have travelled in the direction of Murrintown.
The victim was later taken to Wexford General Hospital for medical treatment.
Gardai are appealing to witnesses that may have seen a car fitting this description in and around the area this morning or to anyone that may be able to assist with this investigation to contact the Wexford Garda Station on 053-9165200, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
