Four ring buoys vandalised on Wexford Bridge.

Last night, four safety ringbuoys were taken from their housing units and thrown off Wexford Bridge. The buoys, which are used to prevent people from drowning, were discovered missing this morning.

Today, Wexford MarineWatch reminded people that the ringbuoys are not toys and that they should be left alone.

The voluntary organisation also told its followers that CCTV footage of the area has been downloaded and handed over to the An Garda Síochána.

Two of the ring buoys were later recovered from the River Slaney by a member of the public. The two missing units have since been replaced by Wexford MarineWatch volunteers.

Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred when one man was caught vandalising two of the units on Wexford Bridge. However, Wexford Gardai later decided against pressing criminal charges.
