Last week, four families from Rathangan and Ballymitty in County Wexford were targeted by burglars as they attended a funeral.
According to the Wexford People newspaper, the families in question returned from the funeral, only to discover that their homes had been burgled and ransacked.
It is believed that the intruders were aware of the fact that the houses would be unoccupied.
This has increased fears that burglars are taking up the strategy of targeting the homes of mourners.
According to Sinn Féin councillor Mick Roche, people in the area are “shocked and disgusted” by the break-ins.
