The 2015 Gorey Market House Festival will take place between Thursday, the 30th of July and Sunday, the 2nd of August (the August Bank Holiday weekend).

• Seo Linn: A unique Irish band that mixes traditional Irish folk music with a modern indie twist.
• Hogan: An Irish pop-rock band that hails from County Offaly.

Family Fun Day.

The Family Fun Day will take place at Gorey Town Park on Saturday, the 1st of August (2PM to 7PM). At the Fun Day, families can bring a picnic and relax as several different activities and events unfold throughout the day:

• A “Straight Jacket Escapologist”.
• A fire spinning duo.
• A puppet show.
• Wall climbing.
• Pirate Cove train rides.
• Face painting.
• Arts and crafts.
• A magician show.
• Soccer and rugby workshops.
• A small animal area…

A brief guide to the Gorey Market House Festival:

Thursday, the 30th of July.

• 7PM: The official opening of the festival occurs at the Gorey Library in Civic Square, where there will be poetry, music and much more.

Friday, the 31st of July.

• Beat on the Street occurs from 5PM onward (organised by Beat 102-103).

Saturday, the 1st of August.

• The Farmers Market will run between 10AM and 2PM on Esmonde Street.
• A street busking competition will be held on Gorey’s Main Street between 12PM and 2PM.
• The Family Fun Day begins at Gorey Town Park at 2PM.
• Please note that there will be no street music on Saturday night. Instead, a number of pubs in the area will be hosting their own live music shows.

Sunday, the 2nd of August.

On the final day of the festival, a street market with various stalls will be held from 12PM onward. At the street market, there will also be vintage steam engines, cars and tractors; as well as other side attractions. South East Radio will also be broadcasting from the market place throughout the day.

Since May, two earthquakes have struck the country of Nepal, killing thousands of people and causing billions of Euro worth of damage.

Participants in the fun run can walk, jog or run along the route, which starts at Leisure Max in Sinnottstown Lane, Drinagh.

The route will loop back around through Coolballow before returning to the Leisure Max premises, where refreshments will be made available.

Registration for the event will cost €10 per person or €20 per family. 100% of funds collected will be given to the Irish charity Trócaire.

To register for the event, simply visit Leisure Max on Saturday, the 11th of July (between 11AM – 5PM) or Sunday, the 12th of July (between 9:30AM and 10:30AM).

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be treated to a wide range of activities and events, all of which aim to celebrate America’s Independence Day.

Events.

• All weekend: A carnival will be held on the quay-front of New Ross on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• All weekend: Various pubs in New Ross will adopt an American theme.
• Friday: Arts & Crafts will be showcased on the quay.
• Friday: Between 7.30pm and 10.30pm, Irish artists Sharon Shannon, Frances Black and The Fureys will perform on the main stage on the quay.
• Saturday: A flag raising ceremony (raising of both the Irish and American flags) will take place at The Immigrant Flame on the quay at 12:30PM.
• Saturday and Sunday: Al Fresco (open air) seating will be organised on South Street, allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoors while ordering refreshments from some of the local cafes and bars.
• Saturday: On Saturday evening, between 7:30pm and 10:30pm, there will be live music on the quay. The acts will include tribute bands for both Gareth Brooks and legendary country / rock and roll singer Johnny Cash.
• Saturday: At 10:30PM, there will be a Independence Day fireworks display at the quay.
• Sunday: Local buskers will line the streets of New Ross.
• Sunday: Local musicians will perform on stage.

On Sunday, the 28th of June, 2015, the Wexford Male Voice Choir will be holding their annual Summer Concert at the Franciscan Friary in Wexford Town.

The Wexford Mail Voice Choir, which is a TTBB choir that is based in Wexford Town, is aided by grants from the Wexford County Council.

The concert, which is sponsored by the Talbot Hotel, will also include special guests Virtuoso Chamber Choir.

Tickets will cost €15.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any choir member.
