“These Government ministers would privatise their grannies if they thought they could get a few pound for them,” says Independent TD Mick Wallace ahead of the Right2Change public meeting in Wexford.
Wallace will be one of the headline speakers on the night and he is encouraging people of all political persuasions to attend to hear what he terms “common sense proposals” on how this country can be governed effectively “in the interests of its people rather than in the interest of private corporations.”
According to Wallace, “this country is not being governed in the interest of the people. This current Government continues to operate and legislate in a way that is favourable only to private wealthy business people, some of them Irish and many of them foreign. Look at the money spent on consultancy firms. Look at how every major construction project is a PPP project where roads and buildings are constructed by private multi-nationals at incredible costs to the tax payer in the long run. Look at the number of state assets, all of them profitable to the state, that have been sold off in recent years. They would do the same with Irish Water because they point blank refuse to hold a referendum that might ensure our water supply can never be privatised. These Government ministers would privatise their grannies if they thought they could get a few pound for them.”
The Right2Change public meeting will take place in Clayton Whites Hotel on Monday, the 14th of December, at 7.30 pm.
