Revenue officers have seized cannabis with an estimated value of over €2,947,000 at Rosslare Europort following a search on Thursday 4 June 2026.
The drugs were discovered when they stopped and searched an accompanied freight unit that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France as part of routine profiling. A mobile x-ray scanner detected approximately 145 kg of suspected herbal cannabis and 7.9 kg of suspected cannabis resin concealed within the load.

Gardaí arrested a man aged in his 20s, who is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in County Wexford. Section 2 allows detention for up to six hours initially, with potential extension to seven days on application to the District Court.
The seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale, and supply of illegal drugs. This is one of several major drug seizures at Rosslare Europort in 2025-2026, consistent with Revenue’s stated focus on disrupting drug trafficking through the port.
