Chan’s Restaurant occupied 90 North Main Street in the town. Raymond and Rose Chan opened the Chinese restaurant in the early 1980s, and it closed in December 2021 when the couple retired.
Many Wexford people, particularly those who grew up in the 1980s or 1990s, ate there. At that time, dining options in the town were limited. Aside from pub food, the choices were Chinese food, pizza, or fish and chips.
The restaurant hosted many communion and confirmation meals.
Although other Chinese restaurants opened over the years, locals remember Chan’s as one of the original Chinese restaurants in the town.
Following its closure, the building became home to a new Indo-Thai restaurant called Copper Chimney.
Chan’s also operated a takeaway at 15 Selskar Street.

The Selskar Street building is now home to Prime Pizza & Kebabs.
