A man who was hospitalised after falling from a ferry in Rosslare on Sunday evening has “gone on the run.”
According to Gardaí, the man left Wexford General Hospital yesterday morning despite having an IV drip in his arm and wearing a hospital gown.
The man, who is of Kosovan descent, arrived in Rosslare via a ferry that had departed from Cherbourg in France. Shortly afterwards, he was refused entry to the country after he presented officials at Rosslare Harbour with a false document.
Later that evening, during the return trip to Cherbourg, it was reported that the man had gone overboard.
Lifeboats were dispatched and the man was rescued from the sea, before being brought to Wexford General Hospital, where he was treated for shock and hypothermia.
According to the Wexford People newspaper, the 21-year-old Kosovan man was not put under guard during his stay at the hospital.
