"STORM DORIS IS CAUSING MAJOR DESRUPTION AND DAMAGE Rough estimation from myself says around 50,000 without power across central western, central east & midland Ireland. Many more will loose power before this storm is over. Lots of debris and bins etc on the roads across the country. Trucks have been reported blown over while many large trees are down. Wexford has escaped lightly so far as I suggested earlier. However, it's a long time since we had a good windstorm here so there is lots of deBris on the roads - littered with branches infact. Hell, I even came across a wheelbarrow. Risk of further severe squalls across the county during the morning. Further up the east coast, where they have already been hit badly, may yet see the worst to come. More soon - Ray"

"GOOD DEED ALERT PLEASE SHARE: Hi guys, asking for urgent assitance from the public. We have three rough sleepers that we came across today on the town. They were sitting in doorways exposed to the elements and absolutely soaked through. We need donations of a tent(s) one big enough to sleep all 3 gentlemen or smaller ones will do. One of these gentlemen is in his 60's they have very little English and we know given previous experience if we bring them to the council for assistance they will be told to go home to their own country with the threat of deportation hanging over their heads. We cannot leave these gentlemen exposed to this weather overnight due to the risk of hypothermia they have been sleeping rough for a number of night from the information we could gather. We are asking please that someone could help us out until we can purchase suitable equipment from our own funds. We would also appreciate clothes sizes medium or up, they just need to change and be kept warm. We can provide sleeping bags but we need ground mats also. If you think you can help or know anyone who might be able to please tag, share and get in touch we are planning to head back out at 7pm to give food to these men and try get them set up for the night somewhere safe and dry. Thanks so much in advance!"

Irish Weather Online:
"⚠ WARNING : STORM DORIS UPDATE 1700hrs. ________________________ The storm is currently forming off to the west of Ireland. It is expected to deepen rapidly on approach and passing over Ireland. Initial problems from the storm is the heavy rain band ahead of it. Already ongoing, this could cause some spot flooding in areas of the W and NW. Then overnight, winds will strengthen to 100km/hr quite widely and possibly even 120-130km/hr in areas of Connacht and Leinster. The time frame for peak winds will be from 3am to 9am. More specifically it could be at its worst during rush hour in the greater Dublin region, so drive with extreme caution. Crosswinds will be the main worry for road users at that time. Morning flight and ferry disruptions are likely. Basic precautions of securing vulnerable garden furniture etc is recommended. Share to alert friends and family. Ian - IWO"

"WARNING UPDATE Ok folks in Wexford, I still think Wexford will not be severely affected by this storm but still, take caution. However, I mentioned in my last post a short time ago that I was becoming concerned for central areas of Ireland. Look's like central west across to central east areas are in for it tonight. See following."

Reality Weather:
"SEVERE WEATHER update!! Oh dear, 87 mph (140kph) gusts hitting west coast of Ireland - much (30kph) higher than anticipated there. This means the storm may be intensifying earlier than expected - it wasn't expected to reach it's peak until crossing the Irish Sea into England and Wales. A narrow strip from central west to central east of Ireland may take a very severe battering from this system!! Expect widespread power outages in these areas."
